EPA Disclosure Rule for Lead Based Paint . This rule requires that notice of the existence of lead-based paint be provided to purchasers and lessees of housing built prior to 1978 prior to the sale or renting of the premises.

Debris from the Removal of Lead-Based Paint must
often comply with extensive and expensive hazardous waste requirements. In this rule, EPA has proposed rule to suspend the applicability of the hazardous waste regulations to certain categories of lead-based paint debris.

EPA has proposed new procedures for handling lead-based paint debris. These proposed requirements will take the place of the hazardous waste rules that currently regulate lead-based paint debris.

Effective June 1, 1999, residents of certain multi-family
housing built 1978 must receive advanced notice of renovation activities that
will disturb more than two square feet of lead-based paint. Persons who must comply with this disclosure obligation include contractors, landlords and building managers.
